Mr. McKillop is a Partner of Jones, Hurley and Hand, P.A. Currently, he is also the Managing Partner of the firm's Tampa office. His focus includes defending Employers, Self-Insured Entities and Carriers in Workers' Compensation, Employment, General Liability and Appeals. He has been AV Rated for many years and in 2011 received the designation of "AV- Preeminent" by his Peers as reflected by Martindale Hubbell, the most authoritative and widely consulted directory of lawyers in the United States. Additionally, Steve McKillop has been recognized as one of Orlando's Top Lawyers by Orlando Home & Leisure. Mr. McKillop is an author and frequent lecturer/instructor of many Continuing Education Courses provided to adjusters and insurance professionals.
Mr. McKillop was born and raised in Florida. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Human Development from Vanderbilt University in 1986 and later earned his Law Degree from the University of Florida in 1989. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1990. Prior to joining our firm in 1996, Steve McKillop acquired considerable jury trial experience with over 100 jury trials as an Assistant State Attorney with the Ninth Judicial Circuit of Florida.
When not at work, Mr. McKillop enjoys time with his family and children. Both he and his wife are fourth generation Floridians. As a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Orlando, he has devoted considerable time to the Boy Scouts of America with Troop 24 and Pack 24 serving as an Assistant Cub Master and Webelos Den Leader. Steve enjoys sports and the outdoors including the beach and saltwater fishing. For the last 3 years, he has served as Head Coach of the Junior and Lightning Division Teams of the South Orlando Renegades Lacrosse Club.
